Happy Independence Day to everyone! A: We’re looking forward to one heck of a show. Because it’s the 30th, there’s a little more to it in terms of the fireworks, and this year’s soundtrack is one of the best we’ve ever had. Also, we’ve been able to open a little bit of Civic Center because construction is completed. We picked up Civic Center between Broad and Town Street, so it becomes an expansion. Because when we had to move the fireworks due to the construction we went away from this, we’re going to keep all of the stuff we built up on the north end, and now we’re going to expand it into the south end again as the construction gets completed. So it’s more space, more time and the largest amount of concessionaires we’ve ever had. We’re just very excited about the 30th presentation.

Q: Are there any other changes visitors should expect this year?

A: We actually moved something called Children’s Park, which is an interactive environment for kids. It was over by City Hall — the corner of Long and Neil Avenue — and now it’s in the northern end of Long Street, by the Arena District. The space has tripled in terms of our opportunity to present all kinds of interactive things for children, which includes COSI on Wheels, make-and-take crafts, nutritious things, face painters and all of those things for youngsters.
