COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Rick Pitino's lawyer said the Louisville basketball coach might testify Wednesday in the case of a woman accused of trying to extort him. Attorney Steve Pence said Pitino's testimony could last half a day in the case of Karen Cunagin Sypher, 50, who is accused of demanding more than $10 million.
Sypher's attorney, James Earhart, has said Pitino pulled strings and used his influence to cover up the rape of his client. Police found no evidence to back her claim of rape, and the case was dismissed.
A spokesman for the West Virginia University basketball team says further testing has revealed that coach Bob Huggins broke seven ribs - not four - in a hotel room fall. Huggins injured himself in a fall in his Las Vegas hotel room Friday while on a recruiting trip.

NBA: Houston Rockets center Yao Ming is considering quitting basketball if he doesn't fully recover from a lingering foot injury. NASCAR: Roush Fenway Racing owner and aviation buff Jack Roush walked away from a Beechcraft Premier business jet that crashed during landing at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wis. The National Transportation Safety Board said Roush, who was piloting the jet, and a passenger, Brenda Strickland of Plymouth, Mich., were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
